Method for Drilling Holes with a Woodworking Mortising Machine
Author:
1. When drilling through holes, a wooden block should be placed under the workpiece; for thick workpieces, drilling should be performed on both sides.
2. When drilling a pilot hole, perform the drilling at a height that accommodates the required table travel.
3. Use the longitudinal feed handwheel of the drilling turret table to move the worktable left or right to the desired position;
4. For drilling angled holes, the workpiece is secured using a tapered die during machining.
5. For hole drilling, after each hole is drilled, rotate the longitudinal feed handwheel of the worktable to move the table left or right, adjust the hole spacing, and then proceed with drilling. Be sure to release the clamping device, reposition the workpiece to adjust the hole spacing, loosen the clamping device again, reposition the workpiece to align with the desired drilling location, and finally clamp the workpiece before continuing drilling.
6. When drilling and milling mortise holes, ensure the holes are neat and properly aligned, with smooth, even edges and no step‑overs, wood chips, or chipping at the hole entrance.
